Does that mean your Windoze desktop, or some other OS? I know of only Genius
for Windoze which has a bunch of built-in networking utilities, such as http
viewer. It doesn't do lists though, as far I'm aware of. I doubt you'll find
a cozy-windoze prog like you want.
Other than that, it would be easy to write yourself a Perl or PHP script to
perform something akin. Connect, grep some common text (e.g. in the header)
and let the script determine if the site is up. Run it via the browser, or
as a cron than have it by email. Saves you the hassle of clicking buttons.
So me think.
If I may ask, are you checking all sites on the same box? Is not one site
enough if you only need to know if the http service is working?
FYI: A while ago, I used Keynote's Red Alert (redalert.com) for this kind of
thing. Now, I rather have my own servers check on themselves. They're pretty
dispersed and I rely on the probability of all of them being down at the
same time as being pretty low. I would recommend Red Alert, though, if you
don't mind the extra bucks that comes with it (I thing its $10 per port per
host).
