Hi all,
I have a virtual site on a different IP class than my main site and
name-based virtual sites.
I have a RaQ3 at Tera-Byte.
For sake of clarity, let's call the main site mainsite.com, and the virtual
site on a different IP virtualsite.com.
Now, I set up virtualsite.com in the GUI as www.virtualsite.com, added the
different IP number, checked "Accept Email for Domain" in the Site settings
window, and checked "Web Access by Domain" in the Site settings window.
Then I went to Tera-byte's DNS control panel and added in virtualsite.com. I
pointed virtualsite.com, www.virtualsite.com to the different IP address. I
used A records for both.
Then I added an MX record which states: "Mail for virtualsite.com is
delivered to www.virtualsite.com"
This is the way I have set up the MX record for all my other sites, and it
works fine.
I did this several days ago, so the DNS additions have surely propigated.
Now, I can send e-mail to any external domain that is not on my server from
virtualsite.com just fine. I can also e-mail myself as virtualsite.com fine.
However, when I try to send e-mail from virtualsite.com to another local
domain on my server, I get the error message:
553 mainsite.com. config error: mail loops back to me (MX problem?)
554 <mail@xxxxxxxxxxxx>... Local configuration error
I do not receive errors of any kind from any other sites on the server.
Again:
Virtualsite.com is on a different IP address from my main site and
name-based virtual sites. It is the only site on that IP.
All the DNS records are A records.
MX record for virtualsite.com: "Mail for virtualsite.com is delivered to
www.virtualsite.com"
What's going on? If you need the specific domains, I will send them
privately.
Thanks,
Paul
