I just got a raq3 last month. One of the first things I did was to install
the pop-before-smtp pkg, and a few others. My first visit to the email
parameters page in the control panel revealed something I hadn't seen on my
previous raq, it was a checkbox for the pop-before-smtp. I assumed that the
pkg had now been made a standard part of the gui and that the pkg I
installed was unnecessary. However, having this box checked caused the
infamous "550: relaying denied" errors, so I unchecked it and everything ran
fine until now.
I, and one of my customers, started getting 550 errors 2 days ago. After
fruitless efforts in other areas, I decided to go back and place a
check-mark in the pop-before-smtp box on the email parameters page. This
worked for exactly 1 outbound email. After the first email, I was back to
the 550 errors again. I went back to the gui and found the box unchecked
again. I rechecked it, saved changes, then did another save changes on the
control panel page just for good measure. I then went back into the email
parameters and found the box unchecked again. No matter what I do, or how
many times I click "save", the box always unchecks itself.
At this point I thought maybe the pre-installed version and my version were
conflicting, so I decided to uninstall both and reinstall the
RaQ3-en-System-4.0.7-9229.pkg found at
http://www.cobalt.com/support/download/raq3.eng.html.
I ssh'd in, su'd to /var/lib/cobalt/uninstallers, found the 2 uninstallers
and executed them. After this, I tried to install the new pkg but the gui
told me it was already installed. Just for good measure, I decided to
reboot and then attempt the install. Same result. A search of the archives
revealed that someone else was having a similar problem, but I found no
solution. On a side note, I also have all the domains I host listed in the
"relay for the following..." box.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
bob c
