First kill portsentry so it doesn't keep generating
log entries until you figure out what you're doing. If
you don't know how to turn off portsentry, just do a:
ps aux
at command prompt and look for the two lines that show
portsentry running, they'll have pid numbers then
issue:
kill pid#1 pid#2
that'll kill off portsentry.

YES! you can delete this file with no ill side
effects. You can also zero log files that have become
too large by issuing the command:
cat > logfile
(where logfile is the name of the log file)
THEN you must hit "control D" (Ctrl + D) to back out..
that will zero any log file that's grown out of
control.
