Hi Jim,
Not sure what you are getting at, Jim. We run both discussion and
announce lists on mailman here. Assuming a discussion list, list
mail goes to the list, owner mail goes to the list owner, mailman
owner mail goes to us. I personally think it's slicker than snott.
We do run our big lists off a dedicated server but the primary
reason for doing that is so that is it makes management, maintenence
and administration easier on us.
In my opinion the biggest advantage to Mailman is that while
it may not impress the geek in me, we can take someone who has never
run a mailing list, and perhaps is still struggling with FrontPage,
set their list up for them, point them towards the web based
interface and set them loose - never to hear from them again. It's
the most user friendly listserver we've found.
Peace be with you,
Brent Sims
