RE: [cobalt-users] Qube 3 backup stopped working!!

This sounds like the samba part locking up, as the programs jamming up
and having to reboot is a classic case when a samba share is mounted to
a drive and fails badly.
Has anything caused the connections between the machines during the
backup to be terminated, or lost, as this is the most likely cause.
Check that nothing else is being maintained on the connection at the
same time as it could be a regular occurance that is now taking place at
the same time as your backup.

The two use of uninitialised values is an error all of the backups cause
and is just because the script isn't tidy in its variable assignment,
its not a problem.

Subject: [cobalt-users] Qube 3 backup stopped working!!

Hi,

I hope someone can help me.

All of a sudden my nightly backup to a samba share has stopped working!!

This is the bog standard backup that comes with the qube. Suddenly it
hangs
during backup and locks a lot of the programs like 'df'. The only way
that
I can find out of it is to reboot the qube (luckily the admin interface
is
still working) as you cannot kill any of the processes.

I have run the backup manually (run the cron job) and let it run and the
following two errors seem to be the culprits...

system error: Illegal seek, 35584

(This number is always either 256, 512 or 35584)

Use of uninitialized value at /usr/sausalito/perl/CCE.pm line 313.
Use of uninitialized value at /usr/sausalito/perl/CCE.pm line 173.

Could someone *please* help me with this and tell me what could be
wrong.

This has been down for 3 weeks now and I can't find the answer
anywhere!!

Thank you all in advance.

Regards

Dan
