hi!
I have been running into problems recently with the SMTP shutting itself
down every 15 minutes or so(10:30, 12:30, etc).
it will run all night and then during the day it will start shutting
itself down.I have not had a problem with this in 18 months. I also applied
the latest cobalt patch today just to see if that might fix it. it hasn't.
sometimes it will restart itself after awhile. I have tried doing it
manually with stop/start sendmail but it doesn't seem to make it start
working again. sometimes even rebooting wont restart it.
I have looked through the cobalt archives for a couple of hours to see if
others ran into the same problem. i saw one message with theI checked the
15 minute problem but didn't see a solution.
I also looked at the /var/log/maillog but am not seeing anything strange
that would be causing it. this is what i get when it crashes:
Sep 6 10:30:02 www imapd[3278]: imap service init from 127.0.0.1

when it is working, the sendmail section says :
Sep 6 12:00:05 www sendmail[2807]: NOQUEUE: Null connection from localhost
[127.0.0.1]
is there some other files i can look at to see what is going on besides the
maillog? if something was running in a loop, would it be shown in the
maillog file?
thanks for any assistance!!
