Yes. But not with Netscape; I don't have Netscape on the machine I use
for proxying <frown>.

Yes.

I really don't see how it could tell the difference, since the
encryption is still in effect until the packet gets through the proxy
into my browser.

However, the whole issue changed when I put the machine into
colocation. It works fine now, at the IP#, but not at all at the URL.
But I think that's a DNS issue, though I can't for the life of me figure
out what it is. DNS seems to not be able to find "joshua.nobaloney.net"
though it finds "www.nobaloney.net" fine <frown>.

I really don't like Netscape 6 from a developer's point of view; my
thought is that they eliminated all their own workarounds too quickly,
and with no warnings, as soon as the http protocol offered the things
they had their workarounds do. A lot of web-designers agree with me.

However, I do want to evaluate it. I've been trying to download NS6.1
(for Windows) for days now and I keep getting errors the download just
stops part way into the file <frown>. Have a burned copy you can
share? Or an ftp site you can put it on?

I made the decision yesterday (it's funny what kind of decisions you can
make doing 75 mph on I-15 on the way to San Diego, with the windows
open, the wind rushing through you and the mountains blocking all the
good radio stations <smile>) to switch to Linux on the desktop. So in a
week or so I'll be trying to figure out what to use. Where do I get
Konquerer?

It may very well have been WinProxy, but considering it works now that
the box is in Colo, and it's still WinProxy, but it didn't work with the
box on my Internal network, I'm guessing more it's something funny in
the routing in my Netopia R7100 router (after all it is SSL on a funny
port). It doesn't matter; I've gone past it.

And next week the Linux solution <smile>. Nah, fly out on your own,
enjoy Disneyland and Raging Waters, and write it off as a business
expense <smile>. But even though you're not coming, I will pick your
brain for software once I've got my linux desktop working. I've got a
copy of RH7.1, but I've also got TurboLinux Workstation Pro 6.1, which
though slightly dated, should have a better selection of packages for
workstation integration (I bought it months ago, thinking I'd install a
Linux desktop then, but didn't). In your opinion, should I go with
RH7.1, or the TurboLinux?

I tried to sign up on your site this morning (actually I only tried to
look at the signup page) and your server told me it couldn't find the
php page <frown>.
