Regarding the second demand, I think that once a message has been read by
the client, it's marked "read" at the POP server. If that assumption is
correct, there is no way to change the "read" flag. Why exactly do you NOT
want to mark read messages as "read"?

If you drop the "read" flag case, the software I suggested (and responded
about 2 times this week), would work great.
