here's another tidbit...
a few minutes ago i needed to add a couple more users, and since the gui
wasn't behaving, i went to the backpanel and tried to manually shutdown.
nothing. the buttons on the back of the unit did not work at all.
completely unresponsive. since i did not want to power it down harshly
(i.e., just hitting the power button or unplugging the thing), i used
"shutdown -r now" from the command line and it went down smoothly as it
should have. on reboot, all is well again with the gui...
but for how long? i know i shouldn't have to reboot the thing everytime i
want to access the admin functions. ideas anyone?
thanks again,
mikey.
