Hi there cobalt-users,
I've just set up my first Qube3, and am finding the web interface a
little limiting. In particular:
i. The assigning of "groups" with samba shares. Whilst this appears
to be a cute way of managing shares and multiple users, it lacks
the finesse of the whole user manager and shares thing on
Windows servers (never thought I'd be saying that about a Linux
project!)
I assume, I can just hack the smb.conf file and restart smb to
set up shares with user privileges the way I want them? Will
this cause a problem with the interaction of the web UI and
smb.conf if other "groups" get added at a later stage?
ii. My users have a number of different ISP POP3 accounts which I'd
like the Qube to both collect mail from, and then distribute to
their Qube mail accounts; this doesn't appear to be supported by
the web UI, which seems to want to collect mail from either
(i) a domain wide POP3 maildrop OR (ii) from an SMTP feed --
neither of which is likely in the near future :(
Thoughts?
