Hello ALL,
I really appreciate the help folks! I am sorry if my post sounded "pissy."
It was.. a little. I guess all the uselessly wasted bandwidth on this group
over rantings has gotten to me.
I still don't know exactly WHY my server did what it did. Dennis Koster
fixed it by suggesting looking at the /etc/sysconfig/network file. Filling
in the details that were missing allowed Apache to see that it had a
hostname and it merrily restarted. I uncommented the Java in httpd.conf and
it came up as well. The / (root) directory had never filled however. It is
sitting at 80% now after having filled quite a bit with errors in my logs by
now.
Graeme Fowler posted a wonderful way of troubleshooting which I will use
over and over from now on with two shell windows open and watching the logs
change. Thank You.
Dan, even though you didn't have the answer; thanks for the reply! I do find
reading your advise and following your links to the archives very helpful.
And while I'm thanking everyone.. Thank you Carrie. You have helped me
considerably in the past either directly answering my (and others')
questions or by asking some very good ones.
Thanks Again!
Glenn
