nope never

nope, we don't do that

In the cobalt world we use .pkg files or "packages" which contain "RPMS" and
sometimes "patches" that (we hope) automaticly apply during the "update".
Those patches normally just "patch" conf files that are not updated by the
"RPMS".  The RPMS then contain the complied "Program" with all patches that
are required already applied.

Now history....  we don't have history but we do keep track of things with
package numbers (.pkg files) "version numbers" (.rpm files) and thats about
it...

rpm -qa to see a list of rpms
/usr/local/sbin/list_upgrades   to see a list of upgrade packages
and
`what carrie said`
and Rpms are a redhat linux thing
