I've seen it on other lists...one had a real martinet as a moderator.
Every effort to start an alternative list was met with objections because
the original list might become "diluted", or it would be a hardship to
look in more than one place for information.

Those of us that start alternative/more or less restrictive lists may be
very lonesome for a period of time (g).
