May I suggest you might want to use the IP# of the ntp server and thus
avoid the DNS lookup.

Sure I understand the issues, but in practice I update the time on my
RaQs (all my Linux boxes) every hour, and I find I got DNS errors once
in a while before I switched to using IP#s.

Of course if the DNS ever changes, you'll start getting errors, but
you'll get them every hour so you'll know, and you can go back into your
RaQ and put in another server.
