hi malcolm,
you may or may not know my name, but i am one of the less frequently heard
from members of the cobalt users list, and i was hoping you might have a
minute to help me with a smb problem i am having on our qube3.
basically, i am having a problem connecting to the qube3 via smb on an nt
workstation, and when i searched the users list archive i found a post from
you where you asked for help on what seems to be the exact same problem back
in february. your original post is here:
http://list.cobalt.com/pipermail/cobalt-users/2001-February/032052.html
essentially what i did was use the cmu to move all of our users from a qube2
to the qube3. everything seems to be going well (although none of our
majordomo lists seem to have migrated) except that when i try to connect to
the qube3 via the network neighboorhood on a win nt machine i get the
following error (same as you did):
"\\Qube3\allusers is not accessible. The credentials supplied conflict with
an existing set of credentials."
you responded to your own question saying that you had been forced to create
an account on the nt machine with the same user and password that you needed
for the qube. is that still the only solution you have found? (i don't
particulatly want to be forced to log out of my main nt account and log back
in as a different one just to access the qube.)
fwiw, i have noticed that appleshare works seamlessly as does connecting
from a win 9x machine (after loggin out from the normal user and logging
back in as a qube user).
i would be very appreciative of any insight you might have.
thanks for your time,
mikey.
