I've done tests now using both TopText(Ezula) and SurfPlus(Spedia),
going over my sites and watching the logs. There is nothing in the
browser identification for either of them that differs from an
un-enhanced browser.
Which means there's no way to redirect visitors using these copyright
theft programs. I doubt there's even a way, using javascript or
anything else, to keep the highlighted links from showing up.
One of the highlighted links the browser put in for an advertiser
COVERED UP one of my own links, because my link and the 'special'
link had the same text.
I'm hopping mad and considering lawsuits at this point. Visitors to
my web hosting page are being led to DialTone Internet. Visitors to
my ranting site are being led all over the place - as many as ten
highlighted links showing up in ONE paragraph!
When you click on a link and go back, the highlighting has
disappeared, leaving the visitor with the impression that your site
had something to do with the advertisement. Refresh the page, and all
of the highlighted links disappear.
I am not getting any revenue for these advertisers to be allowed to
post click-thru links on my pages using my content. I gave no one
permission to include my site and my content in such a way.
No, my actual pages aren't being changed on my site, but to the
visitor, my site is VERY different and full of advertising thanks to
these programs.
This one is big, folks.
