This was NOT the way to do it <frown>. I'm not sure if Cobalt has made
available a program to "fix" the gui to match the passwd file; you
should probably ask on the cobalt-developers list.
Otherwise go back to the virgin passwd, group and shadow files, and use
the cobalt program (check the archives of this and/or the developers
list) they've distributed to create users from the command line; it's a
lot quicker than through the gui, and maybe you can write a script
yourself to import information automatically.
The RaQ4 is designed as a multi-domain box, whereis linux really isn't
designed that way. So the users must be identified as to belonging to a
specific site; that's done in two places; the assigned groups, and the
postgresql files. None of that is intuitive; the merge really messed up
the user-group assignments, I'm sure.

Way back when I set up my first RaQ2 I asked Cobalt if there was any way
to actually use their installation of majordomo (for example the list
configuration files didn't work then and may not work now), and they
said, no, it was best to leave it for simple internal use. So I took
their advice and installed a second copy of majordomo manually. I offer
this service (my price has gone up; it's a pain <frown>), but unless you
need majordomo, you might be better off with a different list manager;
it's really annoying to make all the name-changes you have to make when
you install a second majordomo, and you have to keep track of it
whenever you add or change a list.

Sent to both places, but you should really read the list regularly; it's
got a wealth of information.
