You could subscribe to the digest version.

0 interest. I still get spam to addresses I used to post to newsgroups
several years ago. Although this group and posts get archived on web
servers, it seems the addresses are not harvested as much as Usenet groups
are. That and recent Usenet floods in certain groups making them virtually
useless for many. Many ISPs would probably not carry the group, so a lot of
people wouldn't be able to follow it. There is also a new message board run
by Sun/Cobalt.

along with the existing privately run Cobalt message boards, IMO, already
splits enough people's attention.
