Re: [cobalt-users] [RaQ3i] replacing the hard drive

Hello Folks,

During couple of attempts to use a Restore CD yesterday,
I discovered that my hard-drive is probably toasted. During
the restore process it reaches a certain stage where all
it can do is spit out to the restore PC screen this message:

   hdd: lost interrupt

Unless anybody can offer me some advice for somehow fixing this
error or diagnosing it, it looks like I'll have to replace the drive.
Does anybody know much about doing this? Would I need to find
the exact same kind of drive (quantum fireball, 20Gig, I think), or
could I possibly go with something bigger now, and even a different
make/model?

Advice thoroughly appreciated,

Might not be the hard drive. It could be the motherboard. With the problems you have had with the network connection and now hard drive it sounds more like the onboard controllers. Are you using eth0 or eth1 for your connection at this point?
