Hi Eric,

	SSH (telnet if you must) into the box. In /etc/rc.d/init.d
you'll find some scripts, one of which is named 'sendmail' - without
the quotes. While root, type ./sendmail status at the prompt. You'll
get a short report on the status of sendmail. If it is not running
do a ./sendmail stop and then a ./sendmail start at the prompt.
Doing the stop will, I think, clear any stale lock files. After
doing so, do a ./sendmail status again. If everything is fine you
should be set. If not, well, call back and we'll go from there :-)
