Well, I got my restore cd in the mail today. After getting the right network
card in my computer, the restore went flawlessly. I'm now fully patched, and
feeling much better about all of this. I do have a couple of questions; the
first being about telnet, as I can't seem to get in. Am I being really dumb
here in trying to telnet using the Ethernet cable? Do I need a serial cable
to telnet into the box? The reason I ask is that when I go to a command
line, and type in "telnet 192.168.100.4" all I get is a blank blinking
cursor, and I can't type anything at all. I've even tried just typing the
username and password to see what happens and nothing. Telnet is set up as
root only in the GUI.
Second. Can I shut off the web server? Or firewall it or something? I'm on
@home, and they don't like me running a web server. (or any of this for that
matter.)
TIA
