Thanks Dave. I removed the files by hand as you suggested and there's not a
trace left of webalizer 1 on the box as far as >> find / -name
"*webalizer*" -print << goes. So far so good.

I installed the 2.0 .pkg. Either there's a bug in the .pkg, or I've screwed
up somewhere. The GUI seems to give up on the installation. Oddly, the
installation appears intact though it does not show up in the GUI. Maybe its
not supposed to?

Unfortunately, when running webalizer.pl in cron.daily, I got the error
message noted in my previous post. Seems libpng was not installed. I
downloaded this manually and followed installation procedures discussed
earlier on the list (see
http://list.cobalt.com/pipermail/cobalt-users/2000-April/009064.html). If
anyone else are going to attemtpt to do what I did, replace

make -f scripts/makefile.std CC=gcc ZLIBLIB=../zlib ZLIBINC=../zlib
    with
make -f scripts/makefile.linux CC=gcc ZLIBLIB=../zlib ZLIBINC=../zlib

Copy the libpng.so files to /usr/local/lib and add this path to
/etc/ld.so.conf, then run /sbin/ldconfig
(don't know if all .so files are required. Anyone?)

Running webalizer.pl now went fine. By the way, its still running (started
about one hour ago). I understand this is because of the reverse DNS
delegation, new to version 2. Should run faster tomorrow I guess. I've
checked a few domains and all stats and graphics look fine.

I don't know if all I did was the 'right' way to do it. It works, so I'll
settle with that.

For people who want to do the upgrade, here are the distributions I used:
ftp://swrinde.nde.swri.edu/pub/png/src/libpng-1.0.11.tar.gz
http://cobalt-aid.sourceforge.net/files/Features/Intel/Webalizer2.pkg

BTW: An upgrade might not be worth the hassle if things are already working
ok. There's really not much (visual) change.
