This is my exact point on this issue. People that simply respond with "this
is Spam" or some derivative thereof are not trying to actually be helpful,
just antagonistic. Therefore, they don't really hate the spam, but just the
opposite, they crave the attention gained by being the first to point out an
indiscretion. I for one am a firm believer in the idea that "what doesn't
work will not continue" Meaning that if a person is eliciting a certain
response, and doesn't get that response, they will stop whatever method they
used.

i.e. if a spammer gets absolutely no response to a message, they will
realize that this is not the forum to do such things. However, if the
original poster successfully sells his business by means of this post, how
effective do you think Dan's post will be in preventing him from trying
further posts along the same thought process? The poster even placed the
obligatory [OT] in front of the message to show others that are simply
interested in cobalt info that this would not be a worthwhile post to look
at.

When I am busy, and looking for certain information, I very much appreciate
the [OT] in front of a message, because it helps me to know not to worry
about the content of that message until I have free time to devote to it.

Again, just my .02 (well, ok, about .37 because I get long winded sometimes)
:)
