I was searching through some recent messages to see just how often Dan
flames somebody. You know what? It came to like 1 in 20. That's 1 flame
message for 20 messages sent with helpful information.

I don't think it's fair to censor Dan, when all Dan is trying to do is
reinforce the rules of netiquette on this list. His flames are really
harmless, and are usually one- or two-liners. I agree with the broken window
theory - if no one points out spam or tells posters to use the archives,
people will constantly spam and ask FAQ-answerable questions. Besides, I've
seen plenty of other people, on this list and on many others, who refer
users to FAQs and flame spammers.

Dan's flames are pretty tame compared to some that I've seen on the ISP-UNIX
list.

And for those of you who think that Dan's flame just adds to the spam, your
responses have generated 5 additional messages. This one makes six.

Why don't you guys lay off?
