Apart from the "Windows 2000" bit, that kind of setup sounds okay.

Sorry if you have already thought this over well, but why don't you give
them their Access database through MySQL/MyODBC? You can link Access dbs to
a MySQL source if you'd like.
MyODBC installs in less than five minutes, works like a charm and if you
didn't know any better, you wouldn't think there's a real database running
on the background. Oh yeah, it's a lot cheaper than a new box (you'd have to
run nifty hardware), a W2000 license *and* another copy of Access...
Punch it up @ http://www.mysql.com and definitely look for licensing costs.

Just my two cents, but I just hope you hadn't overlooked this part.
