[cobalt-users] RaQ4 domain e-mail issues

I've inherited two RaQ4 servers and am trying to clean up the mess left by
the former admin. A client's domain is set up on the RaQ4 with proper DNS,
and so on, but e-mail only works when sent to "www.actualdomain.com" and not
just "actualdomain.com". The message returned is as follows:
The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by
the server. The rejected e-mail address was 'whizzo@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx'.
Subject 'e-mail test', Account: 'mail.actualdomain.com', Server:
'actualdomain.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '553 5.3.0
<whizzo@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>... No such user here', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No,
Server Error: 553, Error Number: 0x800CCC79
This e-mail was sent by whizzo who can send e-mail outside the RaQ4 and was
trying to send a message to himself, so I know he has a user account. I can
send and receive e-mail at just "actualdomain.com", but my username is in a
different domain on the same RaQ.
I've tried adding actualdomain.com in the control panel - e-mail server -
host/domain aliases and it disappears after saving the changes. Same thing
happens if I try to add it in site management - site settings - e-mail
server aliases for actualdomain.com.
Any ideas?
