Thanks to everyone who replied. It seems better today, don't know why -
maybe the network services centre where the server is located (Telehouse in
London) is less busy on a Saturday... for the moment I'll just keep trying
it and try to see if a pattern emerges.
Regarding a previous comment by gsh - how do I ascertain whether all the NS
records are working?
