As I recall my first one was an abacus....
but it was only so useful...
The first "useful" one was the "6800 d5 kit". $400 and it was just a 10x10
board mounted to a peice of wood with a 25 button keypad on it.... (I think
it was 25 buttons) as I recall it had 6 "7 segment displays". the standard
version had a 8 bit port and if you where lucky a serial port too... with a
max of 2k of memory I could write machine code off the top of my head for it
and make it do all kinds of tricks... at one point I programmed it to be a
digital clock that turned on the tv every morning.... which was replaced by
a $5 timer...
6800 is somewhere about
