You're precisely right -- providing the terms and coniditions of your
cable provider do not forbid the use of server side technologies on the
cable modem, then you will be able to serve the web page from your
machine.

On the other hand -- would you want to ?  It will take a day or so to
propergate the DNS changes, so your site would be down for some time each
time the dns changed.

Why not rent some colocation space ?
