I could use some advice!
I have attempted to use the CMU to migrate sites and users from a RaQ3 to a
RaQ4. The *$^%@*%! thing fills my /home dir before getting anywhere near
completion; Even exporting the main site individually.
I am going to recreate the sites and the users manually on the RaQ4 and then
move archives over.
Here are my questions:
1)
With respect to the configuration info in the PostgreSQL database that the
Cobalt uses, what config data do I have to worry about losing? Can I just
copy over the /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow files and retain the users old
passwords?
2)
Does anyone have experience with rdist? These two servers will be live on
two different IPs at some point and the old one will be receiving mail until
A records and MX records are updated. I would like to use rdist to keep the
mail boxes at /home/spool/mail in sync. Will this work? If so, I can't get
rdist to work.
I should be able to write a distfile for testing this as such:
(/home/spool/mail/) -> 192.0.0.9
install /mail/spool/mail/;
notify dnsadmin@xxxxxxxxxxxx
then create a cron entry to run rdist.
I did search the archives prior to posting. In fact I've been preparing this
for weeks.
Thanks,
Glenn
