If feasible, make their usernames cryptic and do not share the usernames
with them.  Use a MySQL database, a flat file or some other method to store
usernames and login names, perhaps using email address as the login name.
Modify rymo (not familiar with it, no idea what language written in) to
lookup the server username based on the user's supplied login and access the
POP account.  Alternately, you may be able to use ipchains to block access
to POP from all machines except localhost.
