Hello cobalt-users,
I've looked through the last six months of message and could not find
the answer to my specific problem. So I though I'd ask the group,
which has been so helpful in the past.
On a RAQ4, I have an ongoing problem with FrontPage permissions after
the user has uploaded files via FTP. Now, after they have done this, I
can partially fix the problem by chown -R nobody * , which at least
lets them publish via FP.
However, when they try to set permissions of a page or folder, they
get this error:
"The server could not complete your request. Contact your Internet
service provider or web server administrator to make sure the server
has the FrontPage Server Extensions installed. For more specific
information, click Details."
When we click details, we see:
"File Not Found
File Not Found
The requested URL was not found on this server."
As I said, I have tried chown -R nobody * . Also, I have disabled and
renabled FP extensions on the root web, and disabled and renabled FP
user web on the user directory (if applicable). Still, no joy.
The only solution I have found is to delete the site and set it up
again, making sure the user doesn't FTP in first. In fact, if I know
in advance that the user will be using FP, I don't even set up a user
for the site, in order to avoid this problem.
Any Ideas? All help much appreciated!
Also, does anyone know why the heck the FP username for the root web
has to always be "webmaster?" It sure cause a whole bunch of problems!
Whay can;t it be like it was on the RAQ3 where the FTP username with
the same as the FP username?
