} Agreed.

Ever got a referral? Made a buck off this mailing list? Worked the
room at a meeting of your local Chamber, or just made sure a few
important people know you exist?

	That's viral marketing. It's not a disease, it's a viable
marketing technique that's been around for as many years as I have
(I used to teach sales training) and which was simply renamed so it
would seem to be new enough for the "new economy".

From where I sit, this is a lot like the Jewish Law which
dictates that I can't leave an open hole in my front yard. There's
nothing wrong with having a hole but we all know there are people
running around that know all they have to do is "fall" into it and
our insurance company will make all dreams come true.

The point is, the problem isn't viral marketing but rather
with the people who figured out ways to abuse it.
