I checked out the site after posting the URL, and most of the information I
consider critical-what software is installed, online manuals, and a demo or
at least screenshots of the GUI, is not readily accessible or simply not
there.
I agree with Dan's post. They should not have you "sign-up" for a demo. IMO,
they're trying to harvest your contact information so they can spam you
later.
The web site says they run Solaris. Then it says nothing of what Web server,
or e-mail server they are running-critical information IMO.
Many sections of their site simply state "UNDER CONSTRUCTION."
This company has only been in business since March 2000. There have been
numerous competitors to Cobalt, promising the "latest and greatest, more
[reliable, cheaper, upgradable, all of the above] than Cobalt." Most of
these companies crash and burn. Remember IOpliance/David Holt? How good is
"24/7
tech support" when the company suddenly goes kaput?
Cobalt may not have the greatest or "ideal" system. No one can. But at least
they are going to be around for a while, and they are attempting to improve
upon their systems.
