Well the solution to your problem is very easy.
Note that the webserver and the backens server both use a different
config? (yes the do ;)
alright...
Just compile your php dynamicly.
Do not use make install!
When you made your libphp.so, just rename it for example to libphp.httpd.so
and copy this file to /usr/lib/apache
Now you have your own php lib.
then edit the /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf en change the line
where libphp.so stands to libphp.httpd.so
Restarting httpd, and you should have a working php for your site with
for example mysql stuff, and still have a working backend.
I did this and my xtr run perfectly and still got a working backend.
