Hi...
It so happened that I accidentally erased the root
entry from /etc/passwd (don't ask how! :-), and to my
surprise I couldn't reset it from the "password reset"
button (actually, the engineer of the company that
hosts my RAQ3 couldn't, but the point is the same!
:-).
After getting into terrible pains to login as root
again (in order to avoid re-installing, that is), I
had a look at the scripts invoked when one hits that
button, and it seems that they simply don't account
for such a case.
I strongly feel that this is one of the classic
problems one might have (i.e., bad or missing password
file), so maybe you should do something about it in a
next update.
