Creating a bootable cd from a downloadable iso works fine, even better,
for the patches will be included up to a likely more recent date than your
factory CD-ROM.
1. download the iso image with a popular download program (eg download
accelerator or getright)
2. create the cdrom with a pupolar cd-write application (nero burn, etc.)
3. Check the BIOS to set CDROM as the first boot device
4. reboot and boot from CD-ROM
With a 3-com network card you can't go wrong. After booting from the CD Rom
you have plenty of time to connect a cross cable. The cobalt will net-boot
from the
cd-rom through the just booted server.
Check the readme, for you need to hold down some buttons while powering up
the
cobalt, in order to force the device to net-boot.

: I have heard that people were having trouble with the
: downloaded
: iso images. I have restored, but only with a Factory CD.
: What does the machine do when you try to boot from the CD?
: It should not make any difference if it's a 95-98-2000-Linux
: machine.
: When booting from the CD it's just an X86 machine (No -OS).
: The important thing is that it first attempts to boot from
: the CD,
: and that it can read the CD.
:
: Forwarding this to the list, maybe someone there has
: experience
: with the iso images,
: Gerald
