You will need:
a crossover cable (available at any compusa)
a null modem cable (available at any compusa- they are located by the
serial cables. Don't let the sales guy tell you there's no such thing or
that you can use a normal cable)
Raq manual
How can I tell if I have a crossover cable? See pics:

iso link
iso readme

[I chose the iso file with updates thru May 9]
pc - any operating system will do
Your cd rom will need to be bootable first, before A drive or harddrive;
you'll need to go thru the bios to see how boot up is configured.
After the restore:

Extras:
coffee
cigarettes
hammer
more cigarettes
When burning the .iso file to a cd rom; make sure to use a regular data
cd selection. Do not make the cd bootable; and use a cd recordable cd.
What worked for me was the EZ cd Creator. You can also download a demo
cd creator from nero.com. If the cd is burned correctly; you should see
a listing of several files; not the .iso file and not one or two files
with a .bin extension. Follow the instructions on the .iso readme
exactly; hooking up as instructed. You will then see a bunch of output
on your monitor; then the EULA. Accept it. The LCD will give you some
options; choose boot from net. The LCD on the Cobalt will start flashing
what it is installing. The lcd will then tell you to shut down.
After you restart; you need to give the cobalt an IP. As I brought my
box home; I needed to give the box a 192.168.0.XX number. 127.0.0.1 will
not work, nor did 192.168.0.1. If you're keeping the box, give whatever
ip you will use. I will take my box back to my ISP: so I used a local IP
to rebuild the software on the raq.
I then hooked up the null modem cable; first to the Raq (shutdown first)
and my pc (also shutdown). Rebooted both computers. I then configured my
SecureCrt for the IP I gave the cobalt; and logged in, using admin
admin. You can also go to the browser and set up the raq; dns and such
by inputting your ip addy in the browser.
I then went to:

downloading the software to my pc hardrive; then FTP'd it to the cobalt
where I installed it. While searching for any rpms I looked for a more
recent version; but basically followed Carries instructions.
And that's how it's done. I no longer have any hair, coffee or
cigarettes left; but it's done.
Enjoy.
