They're not. They have their own root for .shop, .club and a bunch of other
TLDs that aren't ICANN approved.

Some ISPs like Earthlink and @Home are apparently partners so their
customers don't need to do anything to see those sites.

It's not really temporary and the way this new.net is going with their *own*
TLDs there will be two x.shop domains down the road.
