Thanks to those who replied. I have since discovered that the high CPU
temperatures are occurring while a BaQup is taking place. The highest
temperature I observed was 43ºC during the BaQup and 5 minutes after
completion, it was down to 36ºC; 25 minutes after, it was 33ºC, and 2 hours
after finishing, it was 31ºC. Most of the time, this CPU sits at 29º with a
room temperature of about 20ºC or so. A history book tells me that's about
68ºF.

Those that replied gave temperatures of 37ºC, 27ºC, 27ºC, 37ºC, and 49ºC
(must be in the tropics!)

Thanks to Dom for the link to http://www.amd.com/K6/k6docs/pdf/21085.pdf. I
had looked on AMDs site but not found the correct document. This PDF file
indicates a maximum case temperature of 70ºC for a K6. Cobalt/Sun told me it
is actually a K6 3D which has a 65ºC limit, so this is well within limits.
It was just disconcerting to see the higher than normal temperature before I
realized it was during higher than usual activity.
