[cobalt-users] RE: Web site forwarding

I have a virtual site resident to the RaQ (www.virutualsite.com) that needs
to be forwarded to a off site Web Address (www.offsite.com). I have setup a
forward in the DNS using  the Ip address of the off site.....site.
(confusing I know)

Basically its works......but the browser address keep the
www.virtualsite.com URL after the redirect. Normal is not a big deal but our
client finds this unacceptable and we need a fix. We do this with NT through
IIS with a problem.

Any input would be helpful.

Set up the DNS to point domain.com and www.domain.com to another IP. Setup
mail.domain.com as a virtual site and accept mail.

Cobalt server but I want to get away from that to a Redhat box. There's lots

This issue has come up in serveral threads.  No one seems to have answered
it yet.

The issue is that all previous "admin" email aliases (eg. admin@xxxxxxxxxxx,
admin@xxxxxxxxxxx, etc.) no longer work since the OS 4 update.  In fact, if
you try to add an "admin" email alias to a user, you know get an error
stating that "admin@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" is already used.  It isn't really
already used, it's just that the OS is only allowing the orginal
admin@xxxxxxxxxx account to exist, and all other "admin" aliases which were
previously created are forwarding to that account.

Any help would be appreciated.  This seems to be affecting several people,
but no one has responded with a reason or solution for it.

You need to edit some files via Telnet, (covered in the archives), or create
a new user as site admin.

Since you can get in via Telnet, you might want to leave a window open
running the command Top to see what's going on when it becomes inaccessible.

Hi Trevor, same problem here. The solution is in the http.conf file, the
number of connection allowed by default is set to 50 if i remember, this
mean 50 connection allowed, after you fall in timeout til one become free.
On XTR you have a direct access of this setting in the GUI web server
configuration. (294 connection is the max the XTR 256 meg ram can handle, so
i suggest you dont pass this limit if you have the same hardware
configuration.

Also a single browser can take up to 4 connection at the time, this mean in
high traffic, your server will maybe have this problem again, depending of
the load on it. I received this information from cobalt tech support.

I have no other SSL on my box.

I try to Follow all the steps in the Manual but my web server locks up.
1 enable ssl on main site
2 generate a self-sign-cert

This is as far as I get because the server reboots I click on go to ssl
admin page and every time the page loads something I get a SSL error window
I click continue and finally get to the main menu

but my http: server is locked up and not running.
I got this email from the server
"The main web server appears to be down.  Make sure that the server's
network
interface has been correctly configured in the network control panel.  If
it all looks correct, try rebooting the server; if this still does not
correct the problem, contact Cobalt Technical Support"

I log onto shell  and restart http and I get a message something about ssl
IP points back to itself or shares the same IP???? I cant recall the exact
error.

The only way to get into the admin is through the https: page after clicking
continue 10 times.

I went there and hit the remove SSL cert button. the server restarts and the
HTTP: works again. and I still have a cert request code in the request box.

Help what do I do???
Do I sent that Request to Thawte and try again?

I got a RAQ3 that will only recognize .php3 extensions, and not .php - My
question is how do I fix this so that it will get the .php to work.  I
