Re: [cobalt-users] Null Modem?

We inherited a raq3 from someone and it hangs on booting when we try to start it up. We are trying to follow the directions in knowledge base that say to attach a null modem cable to the serial port and fsck the disk. Is there a specific null modem cable that we need to use? Just wondering if there is a brand that works better than others. Cheers James

Hello,

A null modem is generally just a way to cross pin 2 and 3 in a serial cable. Pins 2 and 3 are transmit and receive. Anyway, a local electronics store can provide you with a null modem cable, or a null modem connector.
