Re: [cobalt-users] Symbolic Link

Hi Tony

I think this is an ownership issue, you need to change the ownership of the
links to something other than root or admin with the chown command. I am no
lunix guru and I am sure someone here will set you on the right path.

I tried various configurations of the ownership of the link (probably not the right one :( )
but it doesn't work at all.

Any suggestion or help will be welcome

I am experiencing the same problem,

Within a virtual site, I have created a directory in the site
administrator's user account and then created symbolic links to that
directory from the home directories of each user.

When connecting to the ftp server as admin or the virtual site
administrator, I am able to view and follow these symbolic links fine, but
when logging to the ftp server as a standard user I can see the symbolic
 link but cannot access it.

I have checked all of the permissions for the relevant directories and
they
have read and executable set for everyone.

It would be very useful to have a shared area on the ftp site for every
user to access, and this functionality doesn't appear to be readily
 available in the standard configuration.

For security reasons, I do not want to make everyone a site administrator.
