[cobalt-users] shared area on ftp site

I am using a RaQ 4r.
Within a virtual site, I have created a directory in the site
administrators user account and then created symbolic links to that
directory from the home directories of each user. I was unable to create
hard links.
When connecting to the ftp server as admin or the virtual site
administrator, I am able to view and follow these symbolic links fine, but
when logging on as a standard user using a command line ftp connection I
can see the symbolic link but cannot access it. When connecting using a
windows based ftp client, I cannot even see the symbolic link.
I have checked all of the permissions for the relevant directories and they
have read and executable set for everyone.
The password file contains an "x" in the password field of every user,
indicating some extra security on the system.
It would be very useful to have a shared area on the ftp site for every
user to access, and this functionality doesn't appear to be readily
available in the standard configuration.
Hope you can help.
Regards
Tony T.
