I tried posting a question yesterday but I got a return message
from the list server saying the spool was full or something to
that effect.
Anyway, my original question was about the FrontPage client
getting a "can't write to "service.lck" when trying to create a
frontpage web on my Qube2 (with frontpage extensions installed).
I wondered if it was a permissions problem. Subsequently I have
been playing with permissions for the /home/groups/home/
directory and found that chmod 775 seems to solve the problem.
However, I wonder if this is too broad a solution? (ie., am I
opening up some security hole? note, however that access to the
Qube itself is limited to me and I have a hardware firewall in
place).
The frontpage extensions don't seem to install with correct
permissions for editing or execution of some frontpage
components, to wit: the frontpage hit counter won't increment
beyond 1 unless you chmod _private/index.cnt file to 777.
Any similar experiences?
