Sorry, that I must ask again NAMESERVER PROBLEMS:
What I have done:
In the SOA I made following entries for my Nameservers and now the first is
accepted by NIC.AT, but not the second:
mydomain.com -> xxx.xxx.xxx.1
www.mydomain.com -> xxx.xxx.xxx.1
mydomain.com -> xxx.xxx.xxx.2
www.mydomain.com -> xxx.xxx.xxx.2
xxx.xxx.xxx.1/24 -> mydomain.com
xxx.xxx.xxx.2/24 -> mydomain.com
ns1.mydomain.com -> xxx.xxx.xxx.1
ns2.mydomain.com -> xxx.xxx.xxx.2
my-at-domain.at -> xxx.xxx.xxx.1
www.my-at-domain.at -> xxx.xxx.xxx.1
my-at-domain.at -> xxx.xxx.xxx.2
www.my-at-domain.at -> xxx.xxx.xxx.2
The error messages:
ns2.mydomain.com does not belong to the IP xxx.xxx.xxx.2
ns2.mydomain.com is not a valid nameserver
What I have done too: at Directnic I set up ns1.mydomain.com and
ns2.mydomain.com as Nameservers too.
What did I do wrong? What are the entries, I have to change?
Shall I use myotherdomain.com for the second Nameserver?
Please write it in a easy way, that a "dummy" like me can understand it.
Michael

No, you do not have to make sites for them, just the DNS , create A
records for them, and NS records (to themselves)...
Be aware, if you are refering to denic.de , they are much more strict
about who can register nameservers, you should talk to your ISP about
them, i don't think they will let you register your own nameservers.
Also denic used to enforce the requirement that the nameserver IP's are on
different subnets...probably still do

After you have nameservers setup, and you use them for domains, the
domains can be added the same way, except, you need to make sure you have
NS records for the domains that point to the nameservers...
(Adding A records for the domain names themselves of course)
The SOA (Start Of Authority) is ,in your case, basicly, the name of your
nameserver ;)
