Mu dear friends,
The message probably got lost in the ocean of other topics. I really need
your help on this one, so I am posting the same message again, hoping for a
good soul to help me out.
-------------------------------------------
I finally decided to purchase a dedicated for my site. I got Raq4i.
First of all I am a true newbie to the webservers issue since I never had
one before, so I apologize for asking the question. I look into several
messages on the List and yet I couldn't find a solution that works. I am
trying to use the interface RAQ4i provides and I am scared of doing
anything related to telneting.
Anyway.
In my example I created a virtual site called (example) www.domain.com
I assigned the ip address for this site,
I went and assigned two A addresses in DNS setting:
www.domain.com and domain.com both directed to the same ip address
Than I created another virtual site (example) www.subdomain.domain.com
(when creating it I put as host www.subdomain and as domain: domain.com).
In the same window I created Web Server aliases as: www.sudomain.domain.com
and subdomain.domain.com.
I have assigned ip exactly the same as I did for www.domain.com
I went to DNS setting and I created two "A" entries. One for
www.sudomain.domain.com and another one for subdomain.domain.com both
directing to the same ip.
At the end I have four entires in my DNS setting:
www.domain.com
domain.com
www.subdomain.domain.com
subdomain.domain.com
I have no problem of getting into www.domain.com or domain.com but heck
can't access www.subdomain.domain.com nor subdomain.domain.com.
Once again, many of you I am sure heard this before or helped somebody, but
I count on your patience with almost illiterate person that decided to go
to dedicated server not knowing ANYTHING about it :-)
Thanks for you understanding and eventual help :-)
Kris
