Well, I figured out part of my problem I have the Ethernet interfaces
flip-flopped. I have Interface 1 as the internet connection and interface 2
as the internal connection. AppleTalk runs on interface 1 only. Now here's
the problem:
If I switch the IP addresses of the interfaces and I switch the Ethernet
wires in the ports, I loose connection to the internet and I can't access
any of my sites. But theoretically it should work fine, right? Does it
matter that my primary DNS is running on the IP address of interface 2 after
the correction?
Here's a better description of my network topography:
-Currently-
Ethernet 1 <-- connects to --> Router (global IPs)
Ethernet 2 <-- connects to --> LAN (Local IPs)
My Router is a Cisco 2621 running NAT.
By switching everything around the way it should be, my primary DNS would be
assigned to Ethernet 2 on the Raq with a global IP address. Can DNS run on
Ethernet 2? If not, and it must run on Ethernet 1, I guess I would have to
enter in static address translations in the Router, right?
Uhg!
