Thanks to all who replied, I have restored my crontab files to a working
state - I waited until the overnight jobs completed successfully one time
before posting this, just so I'm sure.
As had been suggested, the main problem was that I had duplicated the system
crontab in root's crontab. Now that the panic is over and I can think
clearly about it, I even remember typing "crontab crontab".
All that remains is for me to confirm the proper way of modifying the SYSTEM
CRONTAB. Is it best to:
1) edit /etc/crontab,
2) edit /etc/crontab.master and copy it to /etc/crontab
or is there another way that I haven't found?
Thanks again,
Cavan Kelly
